A one-day workshop with Lucinda Jarrett embedding movement and performance practice in healthcare contexts as part of the Breathing Spaces workshop series curated by Helga Deasy.

** Book for all 3 workshops in the series and pay just €75 **

In this workshop, Lucinda will share her practice which is based on principles of improvisation and anatomical release and influenced by somatic practices and the art of touch-based facilitation.   In the morning we will look at how to use anatomical release and somatic based practices in the context of healthcare and hospital practice.  In the afternoon we will look at improvisation tasks and how to introduce these into co-creation and co-production practices.  In particular, we will explore devising practices in the context of working with vulnerable groups.

This workshop is open to dance and performance artists interested in working within healthcare and hospitals.  The workshop is also open to healthcare professionals interested in introducing performance arts practices into their practice. No prior experience of performance practice or of working in healthcare necessary.

Lucinda Jarrett is a skilled independent dance facilitator with strong experience in performance principles of co-design, co-production and co-creation. Lucinda’s skills lie in her abilities to drive performances that place underrepresented and unheard voices at the heart of ambitious professional arts projects with excellence at their heart.   She has a lifelong interest in transforming and democratising the cultural landscape, providing access and participation to transformative creative experiences and providing audiences with the chance to shift their perceptions of what performance can offer.   She is a visionary creative leader, skilled at leading large collaborative teams, bringing multidisciplinary art forms and cross disciplinary research interests to a shared agenda through performance arts.

She founded and has led Rosetta Life for 25 years.  Rosetta Life is a performance arts in health innovation charity delivering high quality performance arts interventions, films and creative engagement campaigns to change the way we perceive the elderly, frail, disabled, and those who live with life limiting illnesses. She leads a permanent team of three with a larger network of associate artists - composers, musicians and dance artists who bring new work to audiences across the UK.

This workshop is curated by Helga Deasy, Dance Artist in Residence at Dance Cork Firkin Crane with kind support from the Arts Council Ireland and Cork City Council
