Justine Cooper will teach a Contemporary Ballet Class whilst in a residency at Dance Cork Firkin Crane this August
Justine Cooper, one of the artists, who will be at Dance Cork Firkin Crane this August, working with Jools Gilson for her Tempestries residency will teach a contemporary Ballet class.
A class for both contemporary & classically trained dancers that works with the traditional framework of a ballet class informed by the somatic awareness of contemporary dance, yoga & qi gong. Principals of ease, flow and joy meet the rigour, precision & architecture of the traditional ballet form.
Originally from New Zealand, Justine has been based in Ireland as a freelance dance artist, teacher and choreographer since 2008. Regularly lecturing at The University of Limerick in contemporary dance and choreography as well as teaching Ballet & Contemporary dance technique for Dance Ireland & Dance Theatre of Ireland. As a dance artist Justine has had the pleasure of working most recently with Cois Céim Dance Theatre, Liz Roche Company, Justine Doswell, Mary Wycherly, Oona Doherty, United Fall, Maria Nilsson Waller, Anu Productions, Junk Ensemble & Jools Gilson among many others.
Justine was a member of Meryl Tankard Australian Dance Theatre from 1998-2000. Her own work Folds of the Crane was presented as part of Tiger Dublin Fringe Festival 2015 ( nominated for Spirit of the Fringe & Best Lighting & Design) also presented at Dublin Dance Festival 2016 and What’s Next Festival 2018.
