John Scott’s Singing Body Workshop explores the creation and development of material, spatial awareness, performance state, text, dance, wordless stories. Scott, founder and director of Irish Modern Dance Theatre, is known for his tireless experimentation. Scott will engage in the processes he uses in the creative process for developing material for performance. Scott utilises the techniques he has learned from his own research and his performances with choreographers/artists as varied as Meredith Monk, Sara Rudner, Thomas Lehman and The Living Theatre. Scott has also created award-winning work with victims of torture, refugees, and with artists in Palestine.
Scott has taught workshops for professional dancers at New York University Experimental Theater Wing (NYUETW), University of Colorado, Drexel University, Philadelphia, San Jose State University, Irish World Academy at University of Limerick and UCD Drama Department, Dance Cork Firkin Crane, Dance Limerick and Dance Ireland, Dublin.
