What Makes you Stay? What Makes you Go? The Role that Mobility Plays in your Life

This year's roundtable discussion, held at Maureen's* focuses on the mobility of dancers who are notoriously nomadic. Why do they leave their countries of birth (or not)? When and why do they return home? Where do they find their "family" and their communities? What are the issues and challenges that arise when living with a new language, culture, cuisine, codes?

Dance Cork Firkin Crane Executive Artistic Director Laurie Uprichard (an Irish-American transplant herself) will facilitate an informal conversation around this inquiry with the artists who are performing and showing work at Take Off Festival 2026 followed by an open discussion. All are welcome to share their questions. Suitable for anyone with an interest in how artists adapt to a variety of cicumstances.
