Stephanie Keane will be in residence in February 2025
Stephanie Keane will research and develop dance choreography and a musical score for her new dance piece with collaborators Sophie Hutchinson (Dance Artist), Rose Connolly (Musician/Composer), Moises Mas Garcia (Sound design/Dramaturg), and Bonnie Boyle (Producer/Filmmaker).
The research of this new work incorporates sean nós dance, contemporary dance and the nuances of both styles. In crafting the music for the piece, Stephanie and her collaborators will focus on developing music, dialogue, and choreography from the dancers' viewpoints. Delving deeply into Irish traditional music, song and dance and interweaving electronic music software and tools to create dialogue, text, score and script.
Stephanie Keane has been immersed in Irish dance for over 40 years, she continues to evolve as a dancer and creator of dance, through exploring and learning contemporary dance practices, music production techniques and sound design tools. In 2020 she received an Arts Council Project award, to direct, produce and choreograph a screendance called Éist (Listen), which won the Grand prize at Cannes Dance Film Festival in November 2023. She was invited to perform at Take Off Festival in Dance Cork Firkin Crane and at What Next festival in Dance Limerick in February 2024.
