Sophie Hutchinson and Stephanie Keane come together to ask questions, tell stories and share their practice.
Clare-based artists Sophie Hutchinson and Stephanie Keane are dancers from different backgrounds; contemporary and traditional. They come together for this residency to ask questions, tell stories, and share their practice. They want to challenge themselves by thoroughly exploring questions that have been emerging for them since they met in 2021.
Stephanie Keane will teach a Sean Nós class on Thursday 8 June at 11am and there will be a public showing on Saturday 10 June 2023, 6pm.
Stephanie Keane is a traditional Irish dance artist from Limerick City, where she learned Irish Step Dancing and competed at World Championship level. Since moving to East Clare, she has pursued her passion to discover her own style and expression of dance through immersing herself in the tradition of the Sean Nós.
Sophie Hutchinson is a dance artist based in East Clare by way of Waterford City. She trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and spent almost 10 years based in Leeds, working as both a facilitator and dancer.
