Country Ok Production Residency
Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín will work with dancers Marion Cronin and Sarah Ryan to develop the material for her new performance, Country OK, which will take place as part of Cork Midsummer Festival in June 2024.
Country OK is a rollicking celebration of dance featuring an inter-generational cast of dancers from communities across Cork. Live music by Cork band, The Tan Jackets, frames this contemporary take on the history of social dance that is part of the fabric of the city. Country OK is a fusion event including a performance followed by a participatory social dance.
Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín is a dance artist based in Cork. Her primary focus is on place-based and site-specific work. Siobhán has worked with a range of people including boat-builders, seannós singers, and geologists. She particularly enjoys dancing to live music and is an avid country music fan.
Created in Association with Cork Midsummer Festival; Funded by the Arts Council; Supported by Dance Cork Firkin Crane & Pan Pan Theatre Company through the Pan Pan Mentoring Programme.
