Yves Lorrhan who performs in Crystal Cloud teaches a Flow in Connection class this November
Flow in Connection
This workshop will be divided into two parts. In the first part, participants will explore different ways of expressing themselves freely. Everyday actions, words, and emotions will be transformed into movement, allowing the body to become a channel for personal expression. In the second part, through partner dances, we will focus on how to flow with the stimulus of another body - developing responsiveness, adaptability, and the ability to embrace improvisation in a more natural and fluid way.
Yves Lorrhan, who performs in Fiona Quilligan's Crystal Cloud, is a professional dancer from Northeast Brazil with experience in ballroom, ballet, contemporary and afro dance. His show Balacoxê, in collaboration with Brazilian dance company Bamberg looks at the impacts of African heritage on culture and expression of the people of Salvador and how those influences are still alive today in how black bodies move. He has collaborated with John Scott and artist Osaro Adams, where he was a dancer in the Birds of the Forest reading performance, and performed in Croí Glan's Change in 2025.
He has performed in Five Lamps Arts Festival, and in Culture Night and African Day events. His current project Men Do Not Dance, is an ongoing study into the social, physical and psychological factors that prevent men from allowing themselves to dance, with the intention of encouraging them to self-express through dance. Yves says he is able to understand the power that black people have been able to express from their experiences. He is intrigued to explore these ideas through further collaboration with diverse artists, empowering and growing his practice through performance.
