Magdalena Hylak will offer two extended workshops whilst in residence at Dance Cork Firkin Crane this February
///// NOISES MOVES
workshop for movement & sound
This extended workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore and question dance from the perspective of a human being, outside the context of technique, style, performance or social structures.
The Workshop facilitator will be Galway Dance Artist in Residence, Magdalena Hylak, who is known nationally for her work with John Scott | Irish Modern Dance Theatre and internationally with Compagnie Nacera Belaza (FR),. She has given over 170 performances in 65 venues across 12 countries.
For these workshops, Hylak is accompanied by Lionel Kasparian, associate composer of her dance project. His experimental work will allow the breaking down of traditional musical boundaries with the aim of liberating the movement from the questions of style.
Dance Cork Firkin Crane has been supporting Magdalena Hylak’s dance project since its beginning in 2022. This year, she is in residence in the framework of the National Dance Residency Partnership in conjunction with her Dance Bursary Award. During the residency Magdalena will be working on her personal projects with invited Irish-based dancers.
Magdalena will also host a free end of residency Sharing on Friday 1 March at 6pm. Please email boxoffice [at] firkincrane.ie if you would like to attend.
