Moving and Sounding; working with improvisation as a creative tool. Participants will be guided through gentle movement and sensitivity exercises to build collective imagery, rhythms and movement patterns. Attention will be given to sharing and witnessing, building a group container, allowing an open form improvisation to unfold. Informed by contemporary dance, performance and somatic movement techniques including butoh, authentic movement, amerta and action theatre. Suitable for all levels but experience with improvisation welcomed. Dress comfortably and allow yourself to play with deep listening as both practice and performance.
Aoife Desmond is an interdisciplinary artist based in Cork. She works with performance, film, visual art and place based collaboration. Her performance practice is informed by live art, eco-somatics, contemporary dance and physical theatre practices. She creates site-specific solo and collaborative works for film and live performance. She is frequently funded through Arts Council and Local Authority project awards, public art commissions and bursaries. She exhibits in galleries and film festivals nationally and internationally including Douglas Hyde Gallery, IMMA, ICA London, Lima Alterna Peru and Royal Anthropology Institute Film Festival.
