John Scott's new work focusses on the personas of Shakespeare's Othello
John Scott’s new work, Othello (Maybe a dance) for IMDT focusses on the personas of Shakespeare’s Othello, performed by multiple Othello’s of different generations and physicalities, including Mufutau Yusuf, recently returned from his New York triumphs of Ówe and Cloud Study. Iago is performed by the legendary Valda Setterfield, making a welcome return to Dance Cork, Firkin Crane where she thrilled audiences as Lear.
Video Projections are by Rolex Award winning Jason Akira Somma and Lighting will be created by the renowned French designer, Eric Würtz. Music by Tom Lane. The work is a starting point/prism for the exploration of racism, passionate love and the yearnings of life.
The work of John Scott/IMDT is supported, in part, by a Dance Cork Firkin Crane Production Residency
