Vaudeville Legend Returns to Cork!

Firkin Crane Theatre, Cork: Vaudeville Legend Returns to Cork!

Warm welcome back to Leeside for Bill Iriwn

We were thrilled to welcome Bill Irwin back to Cork this May, for a 1-day workshop on Vaudeville and Music Hall styles. Bill last visited us in September 2022, for a very special outdoor performance as part of Culture Night.

The delighted workshop participants learned a variety of skills including; a few traditional steps from the Vaudeville and Music Hall eras, the science of entrance and exit, the questions of setting expectation, of what ‘fun’ seems to be in a theatre, and a Vaudevillian’s use of illusion…a useful set of vocabulary and tricks.

As part of Bill’s trip he has been staying with our wonderful Accommodation Partners, and neighbours, the Maldron Hotel, Shandon. We are grateful to Chloe and the whole team at the Maldron who have offered a warm welcome to Bill, and all our visiting artists over the last number of years.
