Apply by 30 March 2026
Each year, Dance Cork Firkin Crane offers Ceist residencies to dance, movement and performing artists. These residencies provide space for creative investigation throughout the year for artists to engage in a programme of work for one-two weeks to develop ideas, projects, and collaborations. The aim is to create a pressure-free environment for artists who are encouraged to focus on current priorities, without the expectation of delivering a finished product. Irish-based choreographers may apply before 30 March 2026 for residencies taking place from August through November 2026. Selections will be made by a peer panel; notification will be made by 22 April 2026.
We offer accommodation at our Jack Lynch House for the duration of the residency; there are two single rooms and one double room. Currently DCFC cannot cover travel costs, per diems, nor provide a stipend for these residencies. We recommend that artists apply to their own Arts Councils, Local Authorities, etc. to source funding for these expenses.* Necessary funding must be secured well in advance of the residency in order that we can promote it in our season brochures. If a residency date is accepted, cancellations are not permitted.
A studio is provided from 10:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. The main Studio 1, on the first floor, measures 10.5m X 12m. A marley floor covering is available and the studio is equipped with CD playback. Portable barres may be requested. A wheelchair accessible toilet it provided at dressing room level on the ground floor and the studio is accessible via a lift. Three other studios are available; dimensions can be found at on this page.
As an artist in residence, you are asked (but not required) to teach a 90-minute professional class on Thursday morning and present a free public showing on Friday evening.
