Inclusive Dance Cork celebrates the end of its second year

Firkin Crane Theatre, Cork: Inclusive Dance Cork celebrates the end of its second year

Inclusive Dance Cork year 2 comes to an end

Inclusive Dance Cork is excited to be celebrating the end of its second year on Wednesday 22 May, at Dance Cork Firkin Crane. The celebration will consist of a showing of work through choreographed solos and group improvisations in the morning with an audience by invitation-only followed by a certification ceremony and reception for a broader audience. Attendees will include guest facilitators who were on the course during the year, friends and family of participants, and former Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr. Dan Boyle. This celebration recognises the incredible and engaging work done by this year’s participants.

They have had the privilege of working with guest facilitators including Mary Hartney, Maeve Kelleher, Adam Benjamin, Marc Brew, Lisa Cliffe, and Cindy Cummings. They have also experienced the perspectives of international guest speakers in the field of inclusive dance including Judith Smith, Alice Sheppard, Kimberley Harvey, Paula Clarke, Karen Gleeson, Linda Fearon, Silva Laukkanen, and Kate Marsh. The showings, certificate presentation, and celebration will be a much-deserved recognition of their consistent enthusiasm and dedication throughout this year of the IDC programme.

Initially conceived by Yvonne Coughlan, chairperson of Dance Cork Firkin Crane, this ambitious programme is made possible by all of its collaborators, with its home being at Dance Cork Firkin Crane. Partners University College Cork, Suisha Inclusive Arts: Cope Foundation, and Cork Education and Training Board provide essential support for participants and accreditation opportunities.

The programme is generously funded by ReThink Ireland through the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 2023 and the Community Foundation for Ireland through a donation by an anonymous donor.
