DCFC welcomes funding for roof repairs

Firkin Crane Theatre, Cork: DCFC welcomes funding for roof repairs

Additional funding from Cork City Council announced

Dance Cork Firkin Crane is pleased to announce that Cork City Council has approved match-funding of €50,000 in a Capital Grant plus up to €78,000 in an interest free loan to support essential repairs to our historic building’s roof. This funding is a critical investment for DCFC, ensuring that the space remains safe, accessible, and operational for the artists, young people, teachers, and community groups from across the city who regularly come through our doors.

The roof repairs will address significant wear and damage caused by age and exacerbated by recent storms and wet weather. Without these repairs, the building will face potential closure this winter due to health and safety risks.

DCFC has secured a further €20,000 through its own fundraising resources, and is pursuing a €50,000 capital grant from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media. This combined funding will ensure the long-term maintenance of the roof for years to come.

We are grateful for the generous support of Cork City Council, which has been instrumental in sustaining the work we do. Following DCFC’s recent move to the Arts Council of Ireland’s Strategic Funding strand and an increase in audience engagement, this backing reinforces our commitment to providing a vibrant, inclusive space for dance and the performing arts in Cork city.
