Shining a Light on Inclusive Dance
Are you a dance teacher, facilitator or student interested in developing more diverse and inclusive approaches to dance practice and teaching?
Inclusive Dance Cork, a project of Dance Cork Firkin Crane, is seeking 10 participants to pilot SHINE – Shining a Light on Inclusive Dance, an Erasmus+ partnership project developed in collaboration with Exis Inclusive Dance Company (Greece) and La Verità Dance Company (Belgium).
SHINE is a new hybrid training programme exploring inclusive approaches to dance teaching and participation. Designed for dance practitioners with and without disabilities, the programme will provide participants with practical skills, knowledge and techniques that support more inclusive dance practice.
Please note that SHINE is a European pilot project and is distinct from Inclusive Dance Cork’s ongoing training programmes.
What is involved?
The training includes:
– Approximately 20–30 hours of self-paced online learning
– 10 hours of in-person practical training in Cork, Ireland in Sunday 6th September & Sunday 13th September 2026
The in-person training will be delivered by Inclusive Dance Facilitator Cindy Cummings and Inclusive Dance Cork Artistic Director, Rhona Coughlan.
Participants must complete the online learning before attending the practical training days and should be available for both in-person sessions.
As part of this pilot programme, participants will also be asked to complete short evaluation surveys before and after the training. There may also be opportunities to support the further development and testing of the training within your own networks or communities.
Who can apply?
– Dance teachers

– Dance students
– Practitioners with and without disabilities
Prior dance experience is essential; whether you are new to inclusive practice or already have experience in the field, we encourage you to apply.
