2025 Residencies Open Call
Dance Cork Firkin Crane offers Ceist residencies each year to local, national and international dance artists. These residencies provide space for creative investigation throughout the year for artists to engage in a programme of work for one-two weeks to develop ideas, projects, and collaborations. The aim is to create a pressure-free environment for artists who are encouraged to focus on current priorities, without the expectation of delivering a finished product. Irish-based choreographers may apply on or before 18 March for residencies taking place from September through November 2025.
Selections will be made by a peer panel; notifications will be made by 15 April 2025.
We also offer accommodation at our Jack Lynch House at 50% off the full price of €170 for the entire house; €50 for single rooms; €70 for the twin room. Currently DCFC cannot cover travel costs, per diems, nor provide a stipend for these residencies. We recommend that artists apply to their own Arts Councils, Local Authorities, etc. to source funding for these expenses.* Necessary funding must be secured well in advance of the residency in order that we can promote it in our season brochures. If a residency date is accepted, cancellations are not permitted.
A studio is provided from 10:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday. The main studio 1, on the first floor, measures 10.5m x 12m. A marley floor covering is available and the studio is equipped with CD playback. Portable barres may be requested. A wheelchair accessible toilet is provided at dressing room level on the ground floor and the studio is accessible via a lift.
Three other studios are available; dimensions can be found at dancecorkfirkincrane.ie/rent/spaces-specs/.
As an artist in residence, you are asked (but not required) to teach a 90-minute professional class on Thursday morning and present a free public showing on Friday evening.
