A Joyful Square Dance was a participatory dance project by Dance Cork Firkin Crane. Choreographed and led by dance artist Inma Pavon, A Joyful Square Dance invited participants to join a free dance project culminating in a special outdoor performance at O’Connell Square, Shandon.
Celebrating the work that is happening within the walls of the Firkin Crane as well as the new roof over our heads, and bringing dance outside for the public to enjoy, the performance invited audience members to share the energy and inspiration of being part of a dance class.
A Joyful Square Dance took place on Thursday 11 June 2026 at 12pm and 1:30pm, with a public warm-up taking place on Shandon Bridge earlier that morning. There was a combined audience of over 250 people for the event.
Participants: Maria Bezrukava, Niamh Cremin, Marie Grandjean, Andrea Christiana Healy, Marleen Elisabeth Hein, Connie Jane Lovell, Diego Marcelino, Kornelia Mlak, Esmee O’Brien, Eli Richardson, Mollie Savage, Louisa Sloan.
