Moments of Wisdom with Finola cronin

Our 'Moments of Wisdom' quarterly series is an opportunity for new and emerging artists to meet an established dance artist, or industry professional, with a view to coming away with insights to inform your own practice.

Taking place online on Friday 27 January at 6pm, Dr Finola Cronin, Emeritus Assistant Professor of Drama Studies at UCD, will be chatting with Laurie Uprichard, Executive Artistic Director at Dance Cork Firkin Crane, and taking your questions. This is a free event.

Finola Cronin studied classical ballet in Dublin and attended the London School of Contemporary Dance in London. She performed for over 15 years in Germany with Company Vivienne Newport (Frankfurt) and Tanztheater Wuppertal (dir. Pina Bausch). Returning to Ireland she completed post-graduate studies at University College Dublin and lectured in Drama Studies in the School of English, Drama, Film and Creative Writing at UCD.  She continues to work in dance performing with the late Raimund Hoghe (Germany, France), Liz Roche Company and Junk Ensemble (Ireland), and John Gerrard (Austria, Ireland). She was Dance Specialist with The Arts Council of Ireland (2003-2007) and has served on several boards of dance organisations including Dublin Dance Festival, John Scott’s Irish Modern Dance Theatre, Daghdha Dance Limerick, Siamsa Tíre, Tralee, and Ciotóg, Galway. She is Emeritus Assistant Professor in Drama Studies at UCD.
