Luke Murphy Attic Projects

Cork City Dance Artist in Residence Luke Murphy - Attic Projects is back in the studio in November to work on the development of a new project - Ingenium (working title) along with his collaborators.

Ingenium is imagined as sci-fi, buddy comedy cum roving fantasy of ambition, fear, fixation and desire. The production, when complete, will invite the audience into an otherworldly fever dream of creativity, pressure, ecstasy and exasperation, calling into question what it costs to pursue something and what it costs to let go.

This residency comes early in the creative process and is an opportunity for Luke and the team to explore the core themes and begin to develop the choreographic language for the work.

Luke Murphy is an Irish writer, director, choreographer, and performer working at the intersection of theatre and dance. In 2015 he founded the company Attic Projects, which serves as an incubator, facilitator, and producer of his work. Spanning stage, film, installation, and site-specific/ immersive contexts, Attic Projects creates pieces rooted in a visceral physical language that uncovers the universal within the deeply personal. Murphy has created and produced more than 12 dance theatre
works that have been presented throughout Ireland, the US, the UK, Germany, Australia, and Hong Kong.

His most recent productions include the multi-awardwinning Volcano and Scorched Earth. He lives in Cobh, County Cork, Ireland, and is currently Cork City Dance Artist in Residence at Dance Cork Firkin Crane.
