Firkin Crane Theatre, Cork: Cormac Mohally Residency

Throw/Catch/Drop residency with Cormac Mohally and Jacob Anderson

Throw/Catch/Drop

This emerging duet of Cormac Mohally and Jacob Anderson is the coming together of two of Ireland's premier jugglers. Both coming from contemporary circus backgrounds, and based at separate ends of the island, they believe that the skill of juggling can be both accessible and complex, enjoyable and frustrating, meaningful and pointless, and at all times, FUN!

During this residency the duo will be guided in juggling composition by Ron Beeri, and spend time investigating how physical theatre and movement can create juggling for audiences.

The juggling pair have been supported to develop this work by the National Circus Festival of Ireland and Motion Chapel’s Faoiseamh Residency, and have received a Shared Island Micro Bursary from Cairde Festival and Festival of Fools to continue collaborating. This residency has been funded by an Arts Council Bursary.

Cormac Mohally is a circus artist from Cork and has toured the world performing award winning comedy dance acrobatics with Lords of Strut, wowed fans on Britain’s Got Talent, and star of Body Brothers on RTEjr. Recently his practice has a focus on the combination of physical theatre and movement to create juggling for audiences. An overall creative producer, festival programmer and polymath performer, Cormac has been a leader and trailblazer in the Contemporary Circus and Street Performance sector of Ireland.

Jacob Anderson, based in Belfast, has worked with Ireland's biggest and most innovative circus companies, including performing as a key ensemble member with Tumble Circus, Siolta Circus and Collectif XY, as a solo juggler and ensemble acrobat performing all over Europe for the past 8 years. He aims to make juggling that questions the relationship between the performer and audience, easily accessible, while at the same time delightfully complex.

Ron Beeri is a juggler and circus artist, he founded his own company BEERI in Sweden as well as co-founding Lazuz Company with Itamar Glucksmann. He created and toured his solo show YAD, performed at circus festivals (Cirque de Domain, Soly Circo), and worked as a dancer with Claire Parsons Dance Company. He is currently touring with Lazuz Company, performing solo pieces, touring with BINA (a circus performance for elderly homes created with Yuval Oz). He also works with several circus artists as outside eye and mentoring, and teaches his own methods around the world.
