Residencies/Bursaries

DANCE CORK FIRKIN CRANE residencies and bursaries provide artists with space for creative investigation.

Each year, we host artists in residence to develop ideas, projects and collaborations. The aim is to create a pressure-free environment for artists, who are encouraged to focus on current priorities, without the expectation of delivering a finished product.

Details of upcoming opportunities will be posted here and in the “What’s On” section of the website, tagged “Residencies”.

Apply for a residency between January and June 2025.

Applications open on Thursday 1 August 2024 for residencies taking place between January and June 2025.  The deadline is Monday 2 September. Selections will be made by a peer panel; notifications will be made by Tuesday 15 October 2024.

A studio is provided from 10:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday. The main studio 1 measures 10.5m x 12m.  A marley floor covering is available and the studio is equipped with CD playback.  Portable barres may be requested. The studio is on the first floor.  For artists with a disability, we welcome submissions of an Access Rider. A wheelchair accessible toilet is provided at dressing room level on the ground floor and the studio is accessible via a lift. Three other studios are available; dimensions can be found here.

As an artist in residence, you are asked (but not required) to teach a 90-minute professional class on Thursday morning and present a free public showing on Friday evening.
