Terra is a solo dance piece by Alessandra Azeviche, as part of a 3-act piece

Terra is a solo dance piece by Alessandra Azeviche, as part of a 3-act piece Terra, Tears, Teia, that connects themes of global diaspora connection through rhythm and movement, the changing earth and Alessandra's inner world as a Black migrant artist. The piece draws from her Afro-Brazilian and West African heritage, both stem from ancient Yoruba tradition which share many of the same religious archetype figures, rhythms and dances, juxtaposing that ancestry with the curiosities of modern urban life.

Alessandra has created three acts for this piece. Terra deals with a cosmological way of seeing life on this planet, questioning territory, boundaries, and migration. Tears deals with struggle, a provocative invitation to see life from a non-Eurocentric point of view, exploring transatlantic intergenerational trauma. Teia (web) is about intersectionality, about expanding dimensions, and the trappings of our modern connective labyrinth. These are the themes that guide her movement, music, text, and lighting choices.

Alessandra Azeviche is a boundary-breaking artist blending art forms: from 2018 she established herself as a leading Afro-Brazilian dancer. In 2022 she was awarded an Arts Council & Breaking New Ground Bursary from Dublin Fringe Festival to develop her first major piece 'Terra'
