30th Anniversary Celebrations

Dance Cork Firkin Crane opens our doors to friends, neighbours, artists, and supporters for a special evening of events on Saturday 27th August in celebration of our 30th Anniversary. A wonderful programme of dance, music, film, a youth workshop, and more awaits you in our beautiful building in Shandon…come along and help us celebrate 30 years in style!

1, 2, 3, 4…30 chances to dance! | 3:30pm-5:00pm

Dance artist Inma Pavon leads 30 performers on a group promenade, with moments of pause and reflection. The promenade will take a looped route, beginning at the venue and making its way down Dominick Street, Mulgrave Street, Christy Ring Bridge, Lavitt's Quay, Shandon Bridge, Pope's Quay and back again. You will be able to view the performance at any stage in the route.

Reception, Exhibition & Dance Films | 5pm - 9pm (All Evening)

A reception featuring refreshments and music by local artist Peter O'Sullivan welcomes guests into the building, where you're invited to browse a special exhibition curated by Dermot Browne as part of Crane Visual, a new interdisciplinary arts and social space at Dance Cork Firkin Crane. You’ll also be able to view dance films by Cork native and Cork-based artists Helga Deasy, Sara Hernandez, Laura Murphy, Luke Murphy, and Siobhán Ní Dhuinnín.

Youth Workshop with Maria Sinnecker | 5:30pm-6:30pm

Dance artist and teacher Maria Sinnecker leads a workshop for young people aged 5-10yrs, taking place in and around the building. Participants are invited to explore the history of Dance Cork Firkin Crane through movement. Please note pre-booking is required for this event due to limited space. Email boxoffice@firkincrane.ie by Thursday 25 August to participate.

Dance Performances by Jools Gilson & Inma Pavon | 5:45pm - 6:15pm

We are thrilled to present two short, solo dance performances by artists Jools Gilson and Inma Pavon as part of the evening, with guests invited to join us for both performances.

Performance by Jean Butler & Cast | 6:30pm – 7:30pm Sold Out

An intimate performance by Jean Butler takes place during the evening, following her residency at Dance Cork Firkin Crane with a cast of local dance artists. Due to very limited capacity, this event is now sold out.
